Charlotte Lint aka @charlies_wanderings is a self-taught photographer, dreamy photos wizard, solo traveler, mix of adventure & luxury, dress fanatic, a dentist by day and blogger by heart!
Two years ago she didn’t know anything about photography, professional editing, let alone writing code or designing her own website.
She was 22 when she went on her first backpacking trip to South East Asia and spent the night in a cave in the middle of Taman Negara in Malaysia.
She went on a Pangea Dreams retreat and learned all about photography, editing, and branding.
Her goal is to show you that you can reach your dreams by working hard for them!
We had the pleasure of asking her a few questions, and an interview with interesting ideas came out:
What’s your favorite place so far?
Without a doubt Iceland! Over the past year, I have been twice and I can’t wait to go back again. There’s something about the endless and raw nature there that keeps drawing me back in. I always feel like I am on an epic adventure as soon as I land.
What place is the top of your bucket list?
That’s a tough question because there are so many countries and places that I still want to see! One of them is the Lofoten in Norway which I will be visiting in March! Another trip that is very high on my list is to travel around New Zealand with a camper van! Oh, and I also want to go to Kazakhstan!!!
What can’t you travel without?
My camera :). I can’t see myself traveling any other way anymore. People often ask me if I still enjoy it and actually have fun. But there is nothing I love more than researching epic locations to then go search for them and make my own vision come to life.
Do you prefer solo travel or with someone else?
I love both of them and I think a good balance between the two is the best way to go. Last year I did a couple of solo trips and it really pushes you out of your comfort zone. Especially when it comes to creating content! But over the past years, I have also met fellow content creators that I love traveling with. I don’t see myself going on a trip with someone who isn’t interested in photography because they will never want to wake up for sunrise 4 days in a row.
What has been the most interesting item of food you’ve tasted?
When I was traveling through Iceland my friend made me stop at a place where they serve a lobster sandwich. I had honestly never heard of such a thing before but apparently, they love putting lobster on pretty much everything in Iceland. So I started with the lobster sandwich, which was incredible! And the day after I tried a lobster pizza, which didn’t sit too well with me :p.
How many photos have you taken?
Over the past 2 years, I have probably taken over 100.000 photos.
If you could only ever eat rice or potatoes, which would you pick?
Hands down rice! As a kid, my favorite food was chicken with rice and I still eat it a lot, especially when I am in Asia.
What’s your top travel tip?
Do enough research from before! Markdown places that you don’t want to miss on Google Maps. And as soon as you arrive in a new country get yourself a local SIM card. This way you don’t have to rely on WIFI and it’s way safer when traveling.
Who is your dream travel companion?
Someone who is just as crazy as I love to take photos and who loves to sing in the car while on a road trip. Someone that gets just as excited as me when they see an epic landscape and who doesn’t leave all the planning to me! I love it when someone takes initiative and suggests traveling somewhere together. It makes you feel like you’re part of a team and that’s super important when you’re doing this together long term!
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Go-getter, creative, crazy-in-the-coconut.
