Corinne Oake started a career in fashion working across magazines, TV, film, and E-commerce, allowing her to learn and grow into a Stylist then Art Director.
River Hately-Richards, with his adolescence split between London and Spain, his eyes were opened to different cultures from an early age and that’s where it all started from for him.
Having both come from creative backgrounds, Corinne & River met in London working for ASOS in 2015 and haven’t looked back since. @northsouthtravels was born when these two wanted to simply share this extraordinary world they live in.
We had the pleasure of asking them a few questions, and an interview with interesting ideas came out:
What’s your favourite place so far?
Alaska for River and Sumba for me. Alaska was wild and free and Sumba, Indonesia was incredibly eye-opening.
What place is the top of your bucket list?
What can’t you travel without?
Do you prefer solo travel or with someone else?
Both, we love to travel just us but traveling with like-minded others is rewarding.
What has been the most interesting item of food you’ve tasted?
How many photos have you taken?
If you could only ever eat rice or potatoes, which would you pick?
What’s the worst piece of travel advice you’ve received?
The bus from Sapa, North Vietnam to Luang Prabang, Laos only takes 9 hours. It took 24!

Have you learned to play any new games?
None we can think of.
What’s your top travel tip?
Go with the flow, loosely plan places you want to see but leave time to explore places that locals tell you about too. They’re often the best!

The Tattooist of Auschwitz
